Student council gives students opportunities to lead and serve their schoolmates on a regular basis. To be a member of the student council, you must be in grades 4-8 and be in good academic and behavioral standing. Student council members regularly help with flag duty, carpool duty, the book store, open house, and other special events throughout the year.

Caught Up is the name of our student chapel team. Caught Up consists of a praise and worship team, a drama/skit team, and a technology team that helps plan, organize, and execute our weekly chapel program. Students get to learn practical ministry by leading and participating in weekly chapel programs. To be eligible to participate in Caught Up, you have to be in grades 4-8.

ECA Family Night is an opportunity each semester to come and fellowship with the school community. The fall Family Night is a chili supper with fun family events/activities. The spring Family Night is a potluck dinner that gives families the opportunity to look and shop at the ECA book fair.

ECA Book Fair is held every spring.  Eastside Christian Academy hosts a Scholastic Book Fair for a week. Students and families are able to shop and purchase age appropriate books, software, posters, and other fun items through the Book Fair. During the Book Fair week, the PTO hosts a Family Literacy Night in which the entire school community participates in activities and games that encourage reading and a love of literature. Families are able to enjoy a dinner together and shop at the Book Fair on Family Literacy Night as well.

ECA Barbeque. This annual fundraiser has become a family favorite because of the excellence of the pulled pork BBQ. Pitmaster Matt Brizendine delivers a great plate of Barbeque at a very reasonable price.

Thanksgiving Feast. The annual ECA Thanksgiving Feast has become a tasty tradition over the past 5 years. On the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, ECA students and teachers gather together for a delicious homemade Thanksgiving Feast of turkey and dressing and all the trimmings.

ECA Christmas Program. The annual Christmas Program gives students and classes the opportunity to use their talents to honor and celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Each class performs during the program, and students have the opportunity to participate in individual or small group performances as well.

ACSI Spelling Bee. Classroom winners from the ECA Spelling Bee have the opportunity to participate against students from Christian schools around the Louisville area in the district ACSI Spelling Bee. In 2007, ECA student Stephen Willis won the district ACSI Spelling Bee, and eventually advanced to the national ACSI Spelling Bee hosted in Washington D.C.

ACSI Math by Mail. Students in grades 3-8 can participate in ACSI Math by Mail event, which allows students to compete against other grade level students around the state in math computation or problem solving. Our students have earned numerous ribbons and medals in this competition over the years.

100th Day Celebration. Each year, students celebrate the 100th day of school by wearing 100 items on their body or dressing like a 100 year old person. Awards are given to the students who have the most creative costumes.

Penny War for the Luekemia/Lymphoma Society. Each year, classrooms compete in the Penny War to raise money for cancer research and treatment. In the past, classes have organized bake sales and breakfasts to raise money to win this War for a great cause. In 2009, ECA students raised over $800 for the Luekemia/Lymphoma Society.

Jump Rope for Heart. In 2008, ECA participated in Jump Rope for Heart, which is a fun-filled day for the kids as they raise money for the American Heart Association.

ECA Science Fair. Students in grades 1-8 participate annually in the ECA Science Fair. Students present their projects to a panel of judges, and are scored according to a rubric. Awards are presented that afternoon as students and families can come and peruse the project gallery.

ECA Spirit Week. Classes participate in a weeklong battle for the coveted Spirit Stick. Daily dress up competitions (i.e. Wacky Hair Day or Famous Person Day) and a Spirit Day competition that includes events like a Gummi Worm in Pudding eating contest, make this one of the most anticipated days of the school year.

Doughnuts with Dad. Each April, Dads are invited for a doughnut and coffee or milk breakfast with their child. It is a time for father and child to spend a little extra morning time together, and for our kids to say thanks to our Dads for the special place they have in our lives.

Muffins with Mom. Each May, we honor ECA moms by having a morning program dedicated to moms. Once again, it is a special time for mothers and their children to spend some extra moments together and share a breakfast.

Field Day. 50 yard dash. Standing Long Jump. Softball throw. Sailboat Race. Egg Drop. There's something for everyone at the ECA field day. And if you don't care about ribbons and competitions, there's always snow cones and candy!!
