Presidential Fitness Test
Eastside Christian Academy students participate annually in the Presidential Fitness test. Every spring, students in grades 1-8 are tested in 5 events to see how they compare with nationally recognized standards of fitness. The 5 events are sit-ups, a shuttle run, a distance run/walk, push-ups, and the V-stretch.
Students who meet the requirements can qualify for two different awards. Those awards and the requirements are listed below.
The Presidential Physical Fitness Award
This award recognizes students who achieve an outstanding level of physical fitness. Boys and girls who score at or above the 85th percentile (based on the 1985 School Population Fitness Survey) on all five events are eligible for this award.
The National Physical Fitness Award
Students who score above the 50th percentile on all five events - demonstrating a basic, yet challenging, level of physical fitness - are eligible for this award.
Each year, a large percentage of ECA students qualify and receive either the Presidential or National Physical Fitness Award. While not all students qualify for an award, all ECA students work hard every year to prepare this event and improve their fitness level as a result.
